- In this section of the course, we're going to describe the ways that you can manage the task of installing, uninstalling, and upgrading software packages. As we move further along, we're also going to cover managing programs after they're already running and this is called processes. Anytime you have a running program, that is called a process. Now finally, we're going to discuss log files, which are going to record the details of what running programs are actually doing. Especially those processes that are automatically being run in the background. Now package management is an area of Linux that varies between distributions, but there are certain principles that are in common across all the distributions.
