- Mobile devices present a unique challenge for forensic examiners. They're a treasure trove of evidence because they often contain our entire lives. If you get access to the full contents of a mobile device, you'll often have access to someone's email messages, texts, voicemails, files stored in cloud services, and even their GPS tracking data history. The metadata generated by mobile devices can be quite telling. Now, it isn't always easy to perform forensic analysis of mobile devices, however because the manufacturers of these products use strong encryption to protect the private data that the devices contain. That's just good security. I have a friend who has spent his entire career in law enforcement and he is often called upon to conduct forensic analysis on mobile devices.
