Measuring success
- Success for a data science team is, is definitely hard to measure. You know, if you're in sales, you have a sales goal to hit, right? And if you hit that goal, that's success. For data science, I think one of the best ways to see success is when somebody just gets it. We've had times where we will spend months explaining a model we built, which took six months or eight months to develop. And eventually, there's always one person that's like, the light goes off, and they're like, "I get it." We can definitely use this. And that's success because you've done your job in translating what you need to, to put it into the hands, to actually be used by the business. In very numerical terms, if we want to say, success can be done by running campaigns, right? If you build a model, and you want to run a test-and-learn marketing campaign, you can compare if your model worked better than what we were doing before. And…
