- [Instructor] So let's talk about edge computing and cloud computing. Well, first you should know that things are still a bit confusing. Many think that it's an edge versus cloud computing world, not edge and cloud computing. Ultimately, these are concepts that work and play well together. They're not necessarily mutually exclusive. So keep in mind that edge computing systems are complimentary to cloud. In other words, you really can't have an edge based system if you don't have some sort of centralized processing. And typically that's going to reside on a public cloud. You have to remember that many of these systems that we build, they start within the cloud and then they move to the edge. We move pieces of them to an edge based device. We may separate the application into a part that exists in the cloud and a part that exists in the device.
