- [Presenter] Let's talk about edge computing. Edge computing can sometimes be referred to as the edge Cloud. It is a type of computing setup that is gaining a lot of popularity due to the rise of internet of things as well as the huge amount of data, the IOT devices bring. The IOT devices are everyday devices that are internet based. They include devices such as IP camera, temperature sensors, self-driving cars, TVs or even lights and coffee makers. What edge computing does is instead of bringing all the data to the private or public Cloud we'll offload some of the computing processing at the edge location near these devices. The idea of distributed edge compute processing is not new. The networking industry have been doing this for years.
