- [Instructor] In this section we will shift gear to the Cisco server platforms. Namely the Cisco Unified compute manager and UCS director. The Cisco Unified Computing System UCS, was introduced in 2009. At the time, it was a bit surprising to see Cisco venture out from just networking gears into the world of servers. The Cisco UCS aims to treat the computing stack as a whole or as a hyperconverged unified fabric to decrease the friction between compute storage and network. In today's world, we will probably call it private cloud or treating it as infrastructure, as service. It enables virtualization overlay as a logical topology that is separated from the underlying physical infrastructure. The main components of UCS consists of UCS manager, UCS director, as well as intersight. The physical components of UCS manager consists of a pair of fabric Interconnects that act as a central management for the UCS domain.…
