Understand the basics of cryptography to keep your networks, systems, and data secure.
- [Lisa] Today, a large percentage of data is stored electronically. As a result, individuals and businesses need assurance that their data can be moved and stored securely. In this course, you'll gain a basic understanding of the various cryptographic and hashing techniques that are used to secure data as I introduce the concepts and principles of cryptography. I'll review some of the historical aspects of encryption and the use of encryption, such as providing confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and accountability. I'll present an overview of the main classes of encryption, such as symmetric and asymmetric encryption, along with commonly used algorithms. By the end of this course, you'll see why encryption plays an essential role in protecting information. Hello, my name is Lisa Bock, and I'm a security ambassador. Are you ready? Well, then let's get started with the essentials of cryptography and network security.
