In this video, learn how to set up the iSNS server for the iSCSI initiator on the client and properly connect to the server. This allows you to resolve iSCSI IP addresses to server names. The iSNS server creates a database to store these names.
- [Instructor] Internet Storage Naming Service, … or iSNS, is like using DNS for storage. … It allows you to specify names … of servers instead of IP addresses, … and it's fairly easy and quick to set up. … The iSNS Server Manager won't show any connections … until after an initial connection is made … from the initiator to the target. … Let's go to Server1 and disconnect our connection … to our iSCSI target and then we'll install … the iSNS server on Server2. … Let's start by going into Computer Management, … and into our Disk Management … and taking our drive offline. … Now we see it's offline, let's go ahead and minimize, … and we'll go to our Tools, and iSCSI Initiator. … From here, we'll go to our Favorite Targets, … highlight and click Remove. … Go to Discovery, highlight and click Remove. … It's okay if it says there's active sessions. … We'll just wait for it to remove, there it goes. … Go to Target, and Disconnect, … and now it's gone. … Let's go back to Server2 and install the iSNS server. …
