- [Instructor] Identity and access management is a combination of identity management and access controls which will facilitate resource availability and prevent undesirable exposure to your organization's data. Now, there are three general high-level steps to identity and access management, and they are identifying the user, authenticating that user and authorizing access to the appropriate resources for that user. So let's talk about these. First let's talk about identifying the user, right? So this is just, we want to know who it is that is attempting to come into our infrastructure. We can identify in four general ways. It would either based upon something that the user knows, so an example would be like the fact that they know their password.
