- Well, later in this course when we really start to analyze an IP version 4 subnet, we're going to be able to identify things like a subnet's network address, its directed broadcast address, its range of usable IP addresses. But before we get into a discussion like that, I thought it would be important for us to really understand what is a broadcast? How does that differ from a unicast or a multicast? That's what we're going to discuss in this module.
