- So after years of touring I came home after a few weeks on the road. I was living in New York at the time. And said to my friends, musicians in New York, how do I sleep in my own bed at night? How do I go after the Holiday Inn dressing room airport lounge circuit? And to a man, they said to me, jingles man, you got to break into the session scene. So I'm like really, what's that? So well you play on records and commercials and the dates are usually in the morning and you get residuals and it's pretty cool. It's a tight clique, but it's what we do to stay off the road. So I set my sights on breaking into the jingle biz. This is way before LinkedIn and way before Upwork or Fiverr or any freelance online marketplaces. So to do it I bought a box of three by five cards in a little plastic box and wrote down the names of everyone I knew who was remote connected to the jingle biz.
