How to measure success in data science
- Success in data science is sometimes difficult to measure I would say. Most times, a data science org isn't necessarily directly driving revenue for a business. And so, the way we measure our success can be done in a multitude of ways. On a day to day basis, as simple as it sounds, sometimes just keeping the lights on is the most important aspect to our jobs. Once you have things in production, you have to maintain them and make sure that everybody's reports are available to them every single day. If everyone gets their reports or the information they need on a day to day basis, that's success. When we think of supporting the business outside of keeping the lights on being able to help them answer questions and do ad hoc work as needed is really where that success measurement gets a little bit more dicey.
