- [Instructor] It's crucial to get a contract correct with your MSSP. Before we go on, please remember that I'm not an attorney and this is not legal advice. I'm sharing my experiences with you and one of my lessons learned is do not negotiate a contract without the advice of an experienced lawyer or contracts manager and this is because contracts often don't work the way we expect them to. Now an outsourcing strategy of set it and forget it is a bad idea. In reality, your needs and the outsourcing environment change regularly. For example, pricing models have recently evolved as MSSP's embrace cloud computing and machine learning technologies. The price for a managed network intrusion detection system used to be based on the amount of network traffic the IDS appliance could examine, but now the pricing is based more on the number of events processed or the data storage requirements.
