Governance
- [Instructor] So let's talk about governance. Governance is something that many who are doing cloud architecture specifically for small businesses may not think about. There's a couple of reasons for that. So governance means controlling what can be done by using policies, that's in essence what it is. So whether it's an API, or whether it's a whole resource such as storage system or a database, you're able to leverage governance as the ability to monitor, control, who's going to access this system. Now if this sounds like security, there is some commonalities between governance and security, and typically they make work in hand-in-hand together. But it's really about maintaining guardrails, so we're ensured that the developers and the users of the cloud-based systems won't leverage resources they're not authorized to leverage in ways they're unauthorized to do. They won't run up $100,000 Amazon Web Services bills, things like that, that's what governance protects you from. It…
