- [Instructor] A newer technology that takes advantage of cryptographic techniques is blockchain technology. I'm here at IBM's website where it talks about blockchain as a shared, immutable ledger for recording transactions. And I'll scroll down. We can see here that there's a book called "Blockchain for Dummies" that you can download. And then here are some of the key elements of a blockchain. It's a distributed ledger technology where all participants have access to the distributed ledger. It's public yet private, no one can see your transactions. The records are immutable, meaning nobody can change or tamper with a transaction after it's been recorded. And smart contracts are used to speed transaction and execute when a certain set of rules are met. Now, blockchain technology continues to gain a lot of attention.
