- [Instructor] Once an employee accepts a position, they may be subject to many different types of monitoring by their employers. We'll explore regulations around this monitoring in the next video, but, generally speaking, private sector employees do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the workplace outside of specific situations, such as restrooms and dressing rooms. Let's review some of the ways that employers may monitor employee actions. It should come as no surprise that employers may monitor the computer use of employees. Companies often own the computers, mobile devices, and networks used by their employees and notify employees that those resources are monitored. The situation does get more complicated when employees use personal devices for business purposes, and companies should address this situation in their privacy policies.
