- [Narrator] Delaware joined the ranks of states with their own privacy laws in 2016, when The Delaware Online Privacy and Protection Act, or DOPPA, went into effect. DOPPA has three major provisions. Websites must post privacy policies, Ebook providers must safeguard user information, and websites and applications directed at children must obey marketing regulations. DOPPA requires that any website that collects personally identifiable information from Delaware residents, post and comply with a comprehensive privacy policy. An organization's privacy policy must be conspicuously posted by meeting one of three requirements. It may be posted on the homepage or the first significant page of a website. Or it may be accessible through a distinguishable text link or icon on the page that contains the word privacy, or would be otherwise recognizable to a reasonable individual.
