- [Instructor] So now let's look at what databases are, and how to consider them in the context of storage requirements. So, keep in mind that databases are not just about storing information. It's about organizing data in such that it becomes information. So, we've always had the ability to lay raw files down on a physical storage systems. However, databases sit on those raw file, sit on those storage systems, and they allow us to organize data in a much more better and reputable way. So keep in mind in the cloud today, they're the primary location of our information or data, including business analytical, and transactional information. And also, it's huge. The data in the cloud may span many several petabytes, which is amazingly large. While this was only dreamed about 10 years ago, and typically considered unaffordable, now with a public cloud we can put as much data as we need and pay for it per usage. So we…
