Create floating rules

Create floating rules
- [Instructor] A floating rule has a bunch of different reasons for existing. There are several different things to do with creating traffic shaping as you can see here under the Firewall menu that we're not talking about in this course. It's out of the scope of the course, but something you can do with a floating rule that's really interesting coming right off the tail of doing these basic rules is we can create a rule that ignores the stacking, the ordering of interpretation of rules. Remember, I told you this is going to come first, this is going to come second, it all, it's top down interpretation. A floating rule gives you the opportunity to create what's called a quick rule and that means that if it gets first dibs. If something comes through the firewall and it matches a floating rule with the quick checkbox checked, it'll just hit that one and it'll apply it and done. It won't even look at other rules in either of the other tabs. So this is interesting and I wanted to show you…
