- [Instructor] So now let's talk around the cost of IoT-based systems on public clouds. So keep in mind, we have a few major costs to consider. Number one, the cost of the device itself. How much does it cost to build, deploy, maintain? Obviously the device is going to have its own operating system and application software. How much does that cost? Ultimately, we have to consider how information's being transferred from the device into the public cloud. And networks for IoT-based systems such as cellular networks can be fairly costly. Then we get into the cloud side of things. How much does it cost us for the cloud resources that we need to stand out such as the IoT-based systems, the database systems, security-based systems, things like that? And ultimately, how much does the system cost to operate? And that will get you close to the total IoT cost going forward.
