- [Narrator] Organizations planning a move to the cloud should conduct a cost-benefit analysis to assist with their decision. A cost-benefit analysis lists all of the benefits associated with the decision alongside of their corresponding costs. In its most basic form, a cost-benefit analysis might be strictly quantitative, simply adding up the financial benefits of a change and subtracting the associated costs to determine whether the decision will be profitable or not. Organizations planning a small cloud move may perform a simple cost analysis that compares only the direct cost of each option. For example, if building a website on-premises would require $15,000 of equipment, and that equipment has a five-year life cycle, the expected cost of operating the website is approximately $3,000 per year.
