- Here are the steps to building out your future data science career mesh using the topics and criteria you defined in the voice exercise, and the sources that you identified in the antenna exercise. First, do a LinkedIn search for three to five people working in areas that you're interested in. The search criteria could include things like job title, company, area of focus, vertical, geography, discipline, functional area, et cetera. Then send each of them a connection request. Always add a personal note or send an InMail if the person won't let you reach out to them directly. Some people require you to have their email as a way to manage solicitations. Remember to always personalize the message. Keep the tone professional, but engaging. Sound excited about who they are and what they do!
