- Hey everybody it's Mike Meyers welcoming you to Lynda's CompTIA A+ Core 1 Exam 220-1001 course. Now this is only course one of 10 courses which collectively will help you pass the CompTIA A+ Core 1220-1001 exam. Now as you're going to this exam there's a couple of things you might want to keep in mind. Number one this video course roughly tracks along with my popular A+ book. You don't need the book but a lot of people find it extremely handy if you have the book where you kind of follow along. Now keep in mind my book covers both exams so we'll be jumping around a little bit concentrating on 220-1001 topics. Also while we're getting into this I also might add that CompTIA's a little bit notorious for kind of overlapping a little bit of 1001 and 1002. So if at any point in these courses if you see we're doing 1001 and all of a sudden 1002 pops up well you might want to pay attention to that 'cause that's a clue. Alright, anyway so what we're going to be doing here is we're going to be concentrating on what I call the basics. Now the basics are going to be two big areas. Number one, it's going to be safety and professionalism. This is a really important place. A lot of people like us who are good technically, we might have problems in terms of like how do we pick up a box and how do we talk to normal people 'cause well I'm a nerd and I like to nerds but normal people can be very frustrating with their computer problems. Anyway, so in this episode we're definitely going to be covering topics like that and once we're done with that we're going to dive into what I call the visible computer and we're be just taking a look at kind of like the ankle bone connects to the foot bone kind of questions. What are the different types of peripherals? What are the actual connections? And a quick tour of the inside of your computer just to make sure you understand the basic parts which we'll cover in much greater detail in other episodes. Also at the end of the course listing, you're going to find a PDF file. Now this little resource is a really handy tool because it will help you map the actual objectives from the CompTIA 220-1001 exam to the different episodes. So let's get started with course one of 10 the basics.
