- [Instructor] Whenever we talk about reporting, we need to talk about the tools that we can use to compile and display these reports. There is a wide range of tools and applications that we can use to show reports, ranging from simple wizard driven to complex SQL code-based tools that require advanced scripting knowledge to get the most out of. We will look at what I consider to be the best options for displaying reports, and some of their pros and cons. But before we do look at the tools, we need to look at what we are attempting to achieve from the tool, to start with. Like any tool, whether it be a reporting tool or woodworking tool, the old adage of the right tool for the right job is as true now as ever before, and certainly applies to our task when it comes to reporting ITSM metrics.
