So, ultimately this is the ability to, in essence, put information into a single layer that all security systems are communicating with. So you're, in essence, hooking different directories up with different directories but providing a common infrastructure so when information is exchanged in near real-time between these entities. So, ultimately, this is about dealing with reference data. It doesn't necessarily have the physical attributes in the directory but it's able to point you in the right direction. So, just like other directories you deal with in day to day life, it allows you to index which resources are out there and how to find them and how to access them.
