(upbeat music) - Many businesses have an organizational structure with a CIO, or Chief Information Officer, that includes both IT and information security responsibilities. This type of structure can align priorities and remove resource dependencies. Even more successful is when IT and Infosec can come together for shared goals to improve your security posture.
(calming music) So what are some of the IT and information security shared goals? Let's talk about four of them. First, we must protect our customers. It is our core responsibility. Next, we must secure the enterprise, and we must secure the data. Finally, we must prove compliance. When we do these four things, we're protecting the business. So let's talk about what each of these teams can bring to the table.
First, information security can talk about the security frameworks we need to reduce risk. Second, information security teams can educate the IT teams on the security measures we have in place. Finally, information security can help IT to measure operational success. When IT comes to the table they can bring operational safeguards and show information security how they're implementing those. Second, IT teams need to work hard to maintain the resiliency of our business systems, and lastly IT can help to standardize the configurations that we need in our systems.
When you bring IT and information security to the table you create common goals. Even more successful is when you bring IT and information security teams together as partners, collaborating to improve your security posture. (television tuning)
