- [Instructor] In this section, let's discuss the Cisco NSO network controller. NSO stands for network service orchestrator. It is a Linux application that can manage the lifecycle of both physical and virtual network devices. It is a layer that you insert between the network devices and the application that needs to interact with them, much like the network controllers that we have seen. The biggest difference between NSO and other Cisco controllers that we have seen is probably the fact that they're heavily rely on the YANG data-modeling language to describe the network. The product line was formed from Cisco's acquisition of Tail-f systems, back in 2014. The product was previously known as the ConfD software framework and you might see references to that in some of the documentations. Tail-f contributed heavily to the development, of NETCONF, RESTCONF and the YANG standards in IETF. There are several different components…
