- [Instructor] There are multiple challenges related to IoT devices, and I would like to highlight the most common and important ones for you. Let's start with lack of security. Many IoT devices have been deployed with not enough security. We are talking about unencrypted communications, both in transit and at rest, weak or hard-coded credentials is stored on the device itself, buffer overflow due to lack of proper programming, and many other examples you can think of. Vulnerable interfaces. The internet of things market is growing fast, and the number of unpatched vulnerabilities that can be found in embedded devices is growing at a similar pace. Web interfaces is one of the most common places security researches, and so real hackers, real attackers can find multiple vulnerabilities that can be exploited. Physical security.
