- Welcome to the Gig Economy. There are a ton of websites popping up pairing data scientists with gigs. And of course, there are the data science competition websites, like Kaggle. When a client wants to work with me, many of them are searching for me by name, which they've heard or seen on a book cover, or they might be performing a narrow search including the name of a specific technique or software, for instance, a narrow search like IBM SPSS model or consultant. That search might actually find me, because I've written a book on the subject. After many years in the business, that's where you want to eventually be, and in as many subject areas as you can get established in.
