- [Instructor] Until iOS 12, much of our use of the device had limited visibility and control. In order to gain control, we were required to insert a management tool. In iOS 12, Apple introduced Screen Time, and now we see insightful information about our behavior and of the device. What was Application Restrictions is now Inside Screen Time. And as Peter Drucker taught us, what gets measured, gets managed. Let's take a look at Screen Time. Back at our device, let's select Settings, scroll down and select Screen Time. This is the default screen for the initial launch of Screen Time. You'll notice it has downtime schedules, app limits, always allowed, content and privacy restrictions, as well as setting passcodes for screen time. I can share it across devices that I own, and I can also turn it off. Let's take a look at my iPhone report in Screen Time. Notice I have been on the device for 48 minutes. It's telling me Settings is my most used application. And I pick it up not very many times per hour. I've received four notifications, most of them in Messages. My friends are talking with me. Back out at the Home screen, I can set a down time if I want my kids to stay off of their device during a certain time of the day. I can set app limits. According to different kinds of applications I can set the kind of limits that I have. I can set certain applications to always be allowed even if I have a limit applied to them. And finally, content and restrictions. Right now it is enabled on my device. Inside of here you'll find the privacy settings that you used to find in restrictions. Let's look at content and restrictions. Notice all of the management options I have. Depending on whose device you're managing, each one of these plays a role in their safe use of the device. Location services is one of the most privileged of device actions. Allow changes to location services or don't allow changes, enable location services, or share my location. It's showing me the three applications that are currently able to use the location services API in the device. I currently leave these all to allow before I set up some restrictions later in the title. That's Screen Time.
