Setting laptop power options

- [Instructor] Ideally you want your laptop to run as long as possible without needing to plug it in. To ensure that you're getting the most from its battery check on the Windows power options. Open the settings app, press the Windows + I keyboard shortcut. Choose System, Power & Sleep. Two items are presented the screen timeout and when the laptop is put into sleep mode. For each item you see two settings, when running from battery power, or when the system is plugged in. Set the screen options based on how you work. It's an inactivity timeout, say 15 minutes for plugged in, but maybe only five minutes when you're on battery power. For sleep I set my laptop to never when it's plugged in and 15 minutes when it's running from battery. Choose additional power settings, this item might also be titled advanced power settings.
