- [Instructor] And now we're going to dive into fiber channel troubleshooting. As a storage admin, this will inevitably land on your desk. And my advice here is, "Prepare and Practice." There will be SNIA exam questions on here. A lot of this will be a methodical approach. First, identify the root cause. Be able to repeat the problem. Second, identify corrective actions. Implement the corrective actions. And lastly, do no harm. It's very easy to get in and do too many changes all at once and mess other things up in a fairly irreparable way. So how do you go about troubleshooting? What questions do you ask yourself? Ask yourself if it's really a SAN problem. Sometimes it's just a server problem disguised as a SAN problem. Next, ask yourself if the problem can be reproduced. Then ask yourself what's changed. Has the zoning changed, the servers changed, the workloads changed? And as far as implementing the corrective action, by all means, try to implement the fix in isolation. This…
