- [Voiceover] This is the inside of a router. Now, routers, by definition interconnect broadcast domains. So, this particular router has three network cards, connected to three different broadcast domains. Notice that each one of the network cards inside the router has an IP address and that's what's listed right there in front of you. Now, what's interesting is that this router on the far left is actually connected to the internet. So, we call this a Wide Area Network. The other two connections are to plain, Local Area Networks. The most important thing to remember about a router is that routers don't care where packets come from; only where they go to. So, we'll have packets going in from all of these different interconnections. Our job is to send them out in the right place and we do that using a routing table.
