- [Narrator] And now we're covering the concept of a remote data center. The purpose of a remote data center is to replicate data from one location to another all in the interest of business continuity and disaster recovery. This is necessary in certain types of applications in your Tier One SLA applications. Your run the business applications. This is absolutely mandatory. And in case you don't have a second data center to replicate to, there are a large number of data center services, COLO types of services, that offer this remote replication target as a service. So all of this is very feasible with existing infrastructure. You can connect one data center to another two ways. You can use Fiber Channel over Ethernet. The important distinction here is Fiber Channel over Ethernet uses TCP layer 2 meaning it has Deterministic IO so those IO's finish within a short and well known period of time.
