- [Instructor] Here's the quick rule about receiving an unknown file attachment. Don't open it, seriously. An unexpected file attachment begging to be opened is the primary attack vector of computer malware. Don't risk it. Delete the message, unless you can confirm that the email is legitimate. For example it was something you expected, say it's a document you requested. Also check the context. Does it seem like something this person would write? Is it in character? Questionable email is generally brief, lacking context. Spoofed messages from businesses frequently have misspelling, bad grammar, or poor English. When these signs appear delete the message and you're good. When things check out and the message seems legit continue to be cautious. Consider contacting the sender.
