- [Instructor] So now we're going to move into some of the newer versions of RAID, including server replication. This can be expected to be encountered on the SNIA exam. So this is very typical of some of the web skill architectures that we're seeing now, Google and Facebook and LinkedIn and Amazon and so forth and so on. Typically, you'll have a server and each of these servers will be running the same application and they will be coupled up so that the data is replicated from copy one to copy two to copy three. So when a write comes in from the server onto the hard drive, that write is written to the server one copy one then also to copy two and then also to copy three. This is commonly known as server replication. It has its strengths in that you do not need special purpose hardware. It has its weaknesses. The primary weakness is that it is best intentioned or best try for writing. There is no real concept of a guaranteed write with this model like you would have for a SAN. Server…
