Join David Linthicum for an in-depth discussion in this video Hard costs, part of Cloud Architecture: Design Decisions.
- [Instructor] So as we mentioned before,…hard cost savings are really operational savings.…In other words,…it's how we save real money around real operations…in the day-to-day running of the business.…And the best example of this is hardware and software,…if we're able to lease that stuff…through an on-demand model from a public cloud provider…and we're able to avoid buying hardware and software.…There's typically gonna be a cost benefit in doing so,…not always, but there's typically gonna be…a cost benefit in doing so.…It's really looking at the as is state…in buying hardware and software for everything…and looking at the to be state…and the ability to use public cloud providers…and the ability to look at the differences…in terms of cost saving that's occurring…by leveraging the public cloud provider…versus traditional hardware/software model.…
So the cloud allows us to do some processing with less money…and it's about defining what that is…and the ability to put that in context…of what we're doing within the business.…
