- [Instructor] So let's talk about containers…versus virtualization.…There's a lot of confusion here.…First and foremost understand…containers don't replace VMs.…So virtual machines are virtual machines.…And virtualization hypervisors…all those sorts of things like VM ware,…remain the same…and still provide value within the enterprise.…They really do different things.…Containers are a way…in which we can place…and isolate data and applications…in…to a container that's able…to move between places.…
It's able to run a distributed system.…We're able to manage it in clusters.…While a virtual machine is something…that'll actually contain an application.…It'll contain storage.…It'll contain infrastructure.…Where containers really kind of focus…more on the application level.…So containers can run within…virtual machines.…So understanding that…we know that virtualization,…such as VM ware,…leveraging hypervisors,…can actually run containers…as if the containers are on a single platform.…
So, there are some overlapping…use cases, however.…
