- [Instructor] Now we're going to discuss connecting servers to SANs. You remember our baseline is a basic server running an application with some RAID and some disc drives in the server. Well, our world is changing. We now have a SAN in between the server and the storage, so we're going to discuss the steps to go through and properly attach the server to the storage array. You'll recall our building blocks. We have a server HBAs on the left-hand side. Those HBAs accept an SFP. An SFP is a small form-factor pluggable optical to digital interface. These are speed dependent. Obviously you'll have cables and switches, and you will do redundant cabling to make sure that you have no single point of failure. And please, please, please remember to update your runbook. This is the essence of your job. What does this connection step by step look like?
