- [Narrator] If you've been reading the tech…or security news, you've at least heard of one DDoS attack.…But because DDoS attacks are typically small…or are detected before they become an issue,…you rarely will hear about them because their impact…is minimal unless their resources are completely down.…There are more of them in the field,…but again, we don't hear about them unless the site…or resource is completely down.…What you'll experience as a user is slower access…to the application or site.…
But in some cases, it went all the way and Github…has experienced one of the biggest DDoS attack in years.…In February 2018, they got hit…with a record breaking 1.35 terabyte per seconds,…which is massive and unheard of.…This is the equivalent of thousands of systems…with thousands of endpoints hitting GitHub per second.…Needless to say, accessing your repos on that day…was nearly impossible.…Like every other examples, GitHub was prepared,…but many companies don't have plans against DDoS attacks…or are inadequate for smaller attacks.…
