Join David Linthicum for an in-depth discussion in this video Advanced architecture: Example 2, part of Cloud Architecture: Design Decisions.
- [Instructor] So now let's look at…another architectural example.…In this case it's going to be internet of things, or IOT.…So this is really to depict the fact that there are times…when you need to focus…on what we call purpose-built cloud-based systems.…And those could be big data, those can be IOT,…those can be analytical systems, things like that…where they have a single narrow function that they do,…and typically the technology you're going…to utilize is going to be specialized,…and therefore the architecture…is going to be specialized as well.…
Let's look at an example.…So here we have the device at the lowest level,…and that's going to basically be producing the data.…We have some sort of sensor on the device which is able…to take something from the device such as temperature,…or part counts if we're having a factory…that's actually building something.…And then the pass it off…to the data communications mechanism…which may pass it off to a cloud-based system,…such as a cloud-based database…where the information is stored.…
This course is targeted at IT professionals who have a basic understanding of the cloud and are ready to move on to creating a cloud architecture. David Linthicum begins with the business case and requirement patterns, and then moves onto mapping requirements to individual architecture concepts. There are multiple aspects to consider: storage, processing, governance, management and monitoring, security, performance, and more. David also includes discussion of advanced topics such as serverless architectures and containers. Watch and learn how to make sense of today's requirements, and plan your cloud-based architecture to scale with what your company needs to succeed tomorrow.
