Use Hootsuite for social media monitoring

- [Instructor] You know, some people flip between Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter when they're trying to update and monitor their company's social media accounts and really, it's not the most efficient way to get things done. When it comes to managing social media monitoring for my business, I prefer a platform like Hootsuite. Hootsuite is a social media marketing dashboard, available in both free and paid options. And it lets you manage your social media profiles from one place. You can also measure interactions, schedule a post. Now, let's take a look at how to use it for social media monitoring using the Two Trees' account. First, you need to add your company's social media accounts. And in this case, we've already linked it to Two Trees' Twitter handle and its Facebook page. Right now, what we want to do is creating a social listing board that we can use to monitor the various conversations. So you go to the left under Streams. Click on New Board. We're going to type in a name. We're going to call it TT Main. And you're right there now. So you want to get started. Let's add in some stream. So you just click on Get Started. And you see, for Twitter, we have a whole bunch of options. We have our Home, Mention, Retweets, we can add followers, lists, likes, tweets, search, scheduled and you add these in the same way. So the first one we're going to do is just add @ mentions any time Two Trees Olive Oil is mentioned on Twitter. I also want to do a search, so let's search for something, click the search bar. I'm going to type in extra virgin olive oil, which of course is something that Two Trees would be searching for on a regular basis. I'm going to put it in quotations because what that does is it gives us mentions when all four words appear together. So there we go. We've got our saved search and now I'm going to add it in a list and you can see, you do it all the same way. A food influencer's list that Two Trees have curated and there we go, we now have mentions, we've got a saved search and we've got our list and we can really start monitoring. Now, if you don't like the order, all you do is you can move them around just by dragging the various columns to where you want them and you have a number of different views. So this is the Standard view. You can also go to Comfortable, which is wider, or the one I prefer, which is Compact, which lets you see more streams. Of course, social media monitoring isn't simply plug and play. You need to spend the time to manage your dashboard and to be on the look out for opportunities to jump into the conversation or know when to simply listen or to flag or escalate a customer issue. Social media monitoring is a hands-on activity that requires sharp observation, communication skills and above all, keen judgment.
