Join Steve Grisetti for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding deflectors to weather effects, part of HitFilm 3 Pro Essential Training.
- In our last session we added some…of the preset effects, the weather effects here,…to our scene and we looked at how we can turn…the weather, or these effects,…into 3D objects and move them,…not just on the x and y axis,…but on the z axis,…in other words, farther from…and closer to the camera.…Now we're going to add a new level of reality.…The particle simulator can be used…to create not just rain and snow,…but also sparks, just falling debris,…falling lights.…
You can add forces to it…and you can add deflectors to it.…So what I'm going to do is add…an invisible deflector to this rain,…and I'm going to add it at the ground level.…It's going to make it look like…the rain is actually bouncing off the ground.…So in other words, we're taking CGI effect…and we're going to add a level…of reality to it so that it's interacting…with the scenery behind it.…This should make it look a little more realistic.…So to do this I'm going to create a plane.…Go up to the new menu, select plane.…
I don't need my plane to be the same size…

3/10/2015In this course Steve Grisetti shares the three ways HitFilm 3 Pro can be used: as a video editor, as a tool for adding 2D video effects to your movie, and as a compositing tool for creating amazing 3D and planar-tracking effects. Along the way, you'll look at how to draw from the program's exciting library of preset effects (including motion tracking and particle simulation), as well as how to build effects and animations from scratch. You'll use HitFilm to add muzzle blasts, rocket fire, phaser beams, and other explosive action effects to your movies. Steve also shows how to work with 3D models and incorporate them into videos—including simulating real-world depth and perspective with the free mocha HitFilm plugin.
