Quadratic equations

- [Voiceover] So quadratic equations just are equations with a squared term or term to an exponent of two. So they're written in the form like a x squared plus b x plus c equals zero. So an example of one of these would be something like x squared minus x minus six equals zero. So quadratic equations we have to treat a little bit differently because of that term that has an exponent. And basically what we can do to solve these things is what we call factoring them. So if I'm looking at this equation here, I might think to myself, what are the solutions for x? Since it's a quadratic, has this exponent of two there, there are generally gonna be two solutions. Once in a while there's one, if there's, and I'll give you an example of that later, but usually there's two. So I'll show you how to find them. So I'm going to make factors like this, and I'm gonna basically do some trial and error to figure out what multiplied by another factor would produce this equation. I know I have to end up…
