- Let's outline successful strategies for getting students to create a formal proposal to pitch their project idea. One of the core skills of an entrepreneur is the ability to translate great ideas into a professional proposal that backers can get behind. Once my students know what they'd like to do for an independent project, I require them to convince me and their classmates that it's a great idea. I want them to identify how this is something they can accomplish during the allotted time. They have to identify and be able to create structures that will make their vision real. That's what a formal proposal helps them do. Proposals aren't just a tool for measuring the viability of a project, they set students up for success by guiding them to recognize and plan for the changes they will encounter along the way.
