- [Voiceover] After you start doing some real GRE questions you'll notice that a lot of questions ask you what can be inferred from a passage and what an author is suggesting. Your technique for these questions is basically the same as I've described before, the kind of thinking you'll have to use is slightly different. So in this video, I'll explain what's unique about these inference questions. So let's take a look at part of a passage here with a question that asks us to infer. So it says, "It can be inferred "that the critics believe that." Okay, so, if we use our normal technique, we get some context and we look at the sentence about the critics. And we realize what's being said about those critics is that say the Lord of the Rings is shallow, it's entertaining, but it doesn't have a whole lot of substance. So, if we look at the choices that we have available, we're looking for that kind of same idea that the critics think it's shallow. And if we look through, it turns out that…
