How to clarify your topic

- Often the early stages of research are exploratory. You will have to make adjustments and sometimes change course entirely, ending up somewhere completely different from where you thought you were going when you started out. The reason your inquiry can change is because you first have to get a sense of what's out there, what's already been written about your topic. I hope that when you start a research project you've chosen to study something that you find interesting. That's gonna make this process much more enjoyable to you, so follow your passions. The parameters of your assignment will affect how much you need to do in terms of research and writing. Is this a 10 page paper? A brief essay? Or perhaps something far more extensive. Has your instructor given you certain limitations? Such as you must use at least three peer reviewed or primary sources in your research.
