- Not all grants require an evaluation plan, but many do,…and typically the larger the grant, the more likely…the funding agency will want an evaluation plan.…The evaluation plan is used to report to stakeholders…the progress of the grant, the impact the grant effort…is having on anticipated outcomes,…and any areas the grantee must focus on to improve.…A sample evaluation plan from a winning proposal…is included in the Exercise Files as an example.…Often grants will have an internal evaluator,…someone who may work at the institution,…but who is not involved…in the daily activities of the grant.…
This person collects data on the process…and outcomes of the grant.…With large grants it's a good idea…to hire an external evaluator.…In fact, some federal grants specifically stipulate…the need for an external evaluator in the RFP.…An external evaluator is a person who is not…a member of the project team working on the grant,…and often the external evaluator is not permitted…to be affiliated with any of the institutions…
