Join David D. Levine for an in-depth discussion in this video Setting maximum message size and other basic configuration, part of Managing Mailing Lists with Mailman.
- Now I'd like to return to the last section…of the General Options page, Additional Settings.…This is a grab bag of miscellaneous options…that I skipped when discussing the page earlier.…Most of the time, these can be left…at their default settings.…The emergency moderation of all list traffic option…is almost always set to no.…But you should try to remember…that it is available in case the list descends…into a flame war or suffers an influx of spam.…If you set this option to Yes,…all incoming messages are held for moderation…and will not be send to the list…unless and until a moderator or administrator approves them.…
Setting this option to Yes is like placing a guard…at the door of a crowded noisy party…and only letting in more people…if the crowd and noise are at manageable levels.…Of course, if you do this, you…and the other list moderators, if any,…will have to inspect those held messages…and decide whether and when to let them through.…Once the flame war or spam influx is passed,…you can set this option back to No.…
