Learn how to use structured data to make your webpages more meaningful to search engines and web crawlers and provide a richer browsing experience to users.
- [Voiceover] Hi, I'm James Williamson, senior author at lynda.com, and I wanna welcome you to HTML: Structured Data. In this course, we're gonna explore what structured data is, and what it can add to your projects. We'll start by exploring how structured data is used to help your site's content be more relatable by machines, such as search engines and other web crawlers. From there, we'll explore some of the more popular structured data syntaxes and how to choose the one that's right for you. Next, we'll experiment with syntaxes, such as microformats, RDFA, Microdata, and JSON LD, as we mark up common content types, like contact info, events, product details, and company info.
Finally, I'll leave you with some additional resources and tools that can help you learn more about structured data and be more productive when writing it. Structured data helps improve the semantics of your sites and makes them more meaningful to search engines and other user agents. If that sounds like something you're interested in, well, fire up your favorite code editor and let's get started.
